Activity 3: Place value
This activity may be used independently, in pairs, or as a class activity on a range of digital devices such as an interactive whiteboard, laptop, i-pad, etc.
Purpose
The purpose of this activity is to investigate the place value of numbers by exploring how many ones, tens, hundreds are in a number.
Activities
Using the hundreds board, students answer questions, such as:
"What is the value of the 3 in this whole number?"
"How many tens are in this number?"
