Activity 4: 100 board puzzle
This game is designed to be played independently in pairs, but could be used as a class activity using an interactive whiteboard with teacher versus class or in two teams on a range of digital devices such as an interactive whiteboard, laptop, i-pad, etc.
Purpose
The purpose of this game is to recognise and order numbers from 1 to 100, and to understand the size of a number.
Activities
Using the puzzle board, play this game as follows:
- A 5 by 5 square is randomly selected and outlined on the hundreds board. This is the playing area. One tile is randomly placed within the playing area.
- Two players are given 12 tiles each and take turns to choose and drag a tile into position on the playing board.
- If the tile is not placed correctly, it will return to the pile and the next student has a turn.
- The first student to place all their tiles correctly on the board wins.
